Dr. Schalow

From health fairs to lectures, our goal is to ensure you have the information you need to make good choices about your health care. Sometimes that means finding a practitioner who can address YOUR particular situation. Sometimes that means stepping away from the subtle influence of the drug culture and choices you have found are no longer appropriate. But always, it means putting you back in control of your health care choices.

Driven by disability, Dr. Schalow began asking questions about where health comes from in 1979, while suffering from the pain of tendonitis in the left hand. Also known as “overuse injury”, it prevented completion of his violin performance degree. At this point, the Alexander Technique became a practical procedure to work out the problem of tension. After regaining function, Dr. Schalow completed music studies and became devoted to music performance and teaching the Alexander Technique. By 1994, through working with children and adults in music teaching settings, it became clear that there could also be structural impediments to optimum function. Then “the light bulb went on” and the whole picture began to emerge of how structure and function work hand in hand to either build or impede coordination. Dr. Schalow is a graduate of Friends’ Central School, Temple University (Bachelor and Master of Music in Violin Performance), Wielopolska Training School for the Alexander Technique, Constructive Teaching Centre for the Alexander Technique, Parkland College (Associate in Science) and Palmer College of Chiropractic.

Dr. Orem

Dr. Orem is a Rockford native, graduating from Rockford Christian High School. She received her bachelor degree from the University of Northwestern – St. Paul, and most recently she graduated Summa Cum Laude as valedictorian from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport.

Dr. Orem’s dedication to pursuing her dream of being a NUCCA chiropractor began with her own experience as a NUCCA patient. After suffering multiple leg injuries during her collegiate track career, she began NUCCA care in hopes of finding a solution to her ongoing problems.

During the next several months, she felt “like someone had given me a new pair of legs!” That year she was not only able to experience notable success on the track including breaking school records and representing her college at the NCCAA National Track Meet, but she also was able to observe how NUCCA care is unlike any health care available in the world today.

Dr. Orem now desires to give this type of holistic health care to her patients. Dr. Orem graduated from Palmer College with a trail of accomplishments, including being the first student to complete the NUCCA Student Proficiency Program. She also played a vital role in NUCCA Club leadership, serving as President for a year and pioneering the Run for Research which raised funds for the Upper Cervical Research Foundation.

Dr. Orem has a heart for treating people of all ages and looks forward to serving you and the community as a member of Upper Cervical Care Center – Rockford.
